Policy/Terms & Conditions

Participant Release

By participating in any events held by the Swift Current Skating Club, the participant consents to the known and foreseeable physical risks inherent in the sport of figure skating and power skating. These risks include but are not limited to: travel to and from the arena, ice conditions, equipment failure, falls, collisions with other participants and/or instructors, and facility conditions. In assuming these risks, the participant forever releases, for their heirs, and any person acting on their behalf, the Swift Current Skating Club and its directors, employees, volunteers, coaches, officials, instructors, independent contractors, agents, and sponsors, from any claim arising from any illness or injury as a result of participation.

Parent Conduct:

The 24-Hour Rule:

When an issue occurs and a party has a resulting complaint to make or issue to be resolved, they are asked to wait 24 hours, then put the issue in writing and submit it to the Swift Current Skating Club via email. Whether this issue is labelled as coaching error, scheduling conflict,  parent conflict or any other of a number of possible situations, it is very important that all parties involved take the full 24 hours to remove or decrease the emotional element so that the actual issue can be resolved quickly, in a civilized manner, and to everyone's satisfaction.

We at the Swift Current Skating Club realize that from time to time, an issue may occur, which is why the time was taken to develop this policy and provide that avenue to all of our members. The Swift Current Skating Club prides itself on its family-like atmosphere and its ability to communicate directly with all members by not losing sight of what is most important - Having fun while learning to skate!
